I went snorkeling for the first time today.  It's amazing the depths you can see under water (Chuck says especially in salt water). The coral was lovely, like a waving lace fan. But the most beautiful elements were the turquoise crevices between the rocks where you could see straight down to the white sand bottom of the reef shore.  The fish were startlingly vibrant, a huge school of big blue ones swam past me. Some seemed to glow or radiate luminescent colours of purple, blue, or green. As we all agreed after, the colour combination was limitless.  Too bad there are no underwater photos!
I don't remember breathing very often, I was so concentrated on looking down.  The flippers were awkward. I always tried to glide on top of the water surface to avoid breaking any coral. It would take 50 years to make a piece of coral about the size of a twenty five cent piece.  If tourists continue to visit this area, the second largest coral reef in the world, will it begin to crumble like the Great Barrier Reef?
The ride out to Cayos Cochinos was very bumpy but fun. It made the adventure 'just right' on the cautious and exciting scale.  Coming back to the mainland on the same boat was more nail biting as rain lit onto the high waves. Still though, the rain gave an illusion of purple foggy moores, and it was beautiful.  When the sun came out, the water sparkled with silver light.

Yesterday evening I was hit hard and sudden with some tropical fever. I had aches in every bones like arthritis, fever, chills, puking, diarrhea... the works! Luckily this was after we'd gone zipping over jungle canopies on cables. Wow, what a rush that was! Of course lots of precautions were taking by the Sambo Creek crew and I felt safe even though my heart was pounding! It's fun to be brave.

I did yoga this evening in the light of the full moon on our balcony. I thought of India. The yoga was well needed after illness and exerting muscles on our adventure excursions. This has been a very short and sweet week vacation.
