Alright, yes, I should be packing right now, but I'm taking a little break.  It's pretty overwhelming to pack for 10 months.  Who knows what we'll encounter on our travels?  I keep starting to pack, and then I get side tracked and realize that all the stuff I'm not packing will be staying here...and I think I have to organize it.  Probably too late for that at this point.

Anyway, the point of this entry was to share the comical (in hindsight) mishap of the journey from Oakland to Eureka for me, Katie.  I packed up all of my stuff in Oakland and my parents came down with a truck and trailer to bring it all back up to Eureka for me.  Thanks, Mom and Dad!  The trip went smoothly until we were about 20 minutes away from home, at College of the Redwoods.  I was driving behind my parents' truck and trailer with my little car (all packed full of stuff) and something hit my windshield.  I figured it was just something kicked up from the road, but soon I discovered that one of the tires from the trailer looked like it was kind of smoking and flinging off bits of tire onto the highway.  As soon as I got it through my head that this was actually happening, I walky-talkied in to my dad and asked him to pull over.  By the time we were all able to find a safe place to pull off the road, the whole tire had disintegrated and the highway had two nice new grooves in it from where the metal rim had etched its path.  Since this was Friday night before a holiday weekend (4th of July), none of the tire places were open, so I couldn't just take my car to grab one and come back.  We resolved to call AAA after some choice words, but after 20 minutes on the phone with them we were no better off than when we started.  AAA wouldn't help us because the trailer is not insured.  Boo AAA!  We ended up calling a towing service and my dad stayed behind while my mom and I took my car home and emptied it.  A few hours later, my dad and the tow truck were at the house with my load of stuff (crap, sh*t, whatever you want to call it).  I got some pictures of the tow truck guy unloading the trailer, because at that point, I thought the whole thing was hilarious and wanted to share it with you all.  All in all, an eventful end to an otherwise uneventful move to Eureka.

Tomorrow Logan and I take Greyhound down to Oakland for our last few days in the States!  It's really happening!  Yikes!

Look! I finally read your blog. Aw man! That looks like a big friggin hassle.

I am packing too now (for my Chicago/Muncie trip) and I really hate it. My brother asked me how it was going and I said it is like going to the dentist, no matter what it is never an enjoyable experience.

I called Ana today and mentioned to her that she might send you info about her contacts in Argentina. She only knows people in Córdoba, none in Buenos Aires. I don't have any real contacts either... Rodrigo's cousin on his father's side has family in Argentina, but I have never met them so that is pretty far off. Then I know Andrea's ex boyfriend from Mendoza, but I can't get in touch with him either. But I told Ana to send you the info anyways.

I will send you info soon about contacts in Chile.

Sucks about the tire and AAA! What bastards! They wouldn't insure our house because of Buddy, but that is a whole different rant.

Can't wait to pick you guys up in my new car! And, uh, can't wait to see you...I guess...
