... i realize that i just can't stay
But I'm quite happy to be here, the launch pad for my AT adventure.
Had a great last day in New Orleans. Then, slight change of plans, instead of driving the Natchez Trace, I dropped Jill off at the Memphis airport (she's flying to Mexico, we have tiny violins for her...), and drove on to Nashville, showing up at around midnight.
Today, went for a very brief hike at Radnor Lake - one of my Happy Places in this world. I used to volunteer there in high school, and have spent many hours hiking, biking and even canoeing it. It was great. Went up on the ridge. It reminded me about hiking in a deciduous forest in winter. See, there are no deciduous forests in California... Met a couple with backpacks and walking sticks. I said "That looks like training!" and they said yes, they were indeed training to do a Grand Canyon hike. I wished them luck, and they wished me luck. I'm glad I met them, whoever they are.
Going to theater tonight. Seeing Herschel (and Nic and Ella Grant!) tomorrow, and then Clan Ironhand for dinner.
I do miss Jill, though, and enjoyed the time I got to spend with her.
