It took about 6 hours to drive yesterday from 17th Street in Oakland to the Sunset Strip, including a lengthy lunch stop at a Denny's somewhere on Highway 5. I had created a playlist called Drive - 73 songs from my collection (I didn't have to buy any) about driving, leaving, going, traveling, or wandering. Some highlights were Tracy Chapman's Fast Car, Bruce Springsteen's Born To Run, REM's Drive, The Ramones Blitzkrieg Bop (hey, ho, let's go), Arcade Fire's Keep The Car Runnin', and what we decided was the exact perfect song - Tom Petty's Runnin' Down A Dream.

Had dinner last night at Yatai - an 'asian tapas' place. It was very good. Had a veggie bento box, and some kimchee.

The hotel is cool. Thanks for the recommendation, Sandy. Perfect location. Had drinks by the blue atroturf bedecked pool. Strangely, this hotel has no Gideon's Bible.

Going to see the LA Philharmonic today at the Disney Concert Hall - very much looking forward to that, and then wandering over to Venice/Santa Monica.

Weather = very sunny.
