We had set aside today for shopping, and where better than the Jersey Gardens Outlet Mall. We caught the bus from the Port Authority Bus Terminal, just down the road from our hotel, and in about 40 minutes we arrived outside the mall. It was still early so we had time for a quick bite of breakfast in the food court before the shops opened. I saw a Cinnabon sign, and I was sold! I had some mini bites and a drink, and then we were ready to hit the shops. It was a really nice mall, and it wasn't very busy so we had plenty of time to browse. Matt bought much more than I did, but as they had an Ecko store it wasn't too difficult. I got some things in the Converse store and in Tommy Hilfiger, as well as some new trainers in Skechers.
We stopped for a drink and some lunch, and then waited for the bus to take us back to New York. This was a great way to spend a day shopping, and can't believe we'd never heard about this before! I know people usually go to Woodberry Common for their outlet shopping, but the trip costs like $35 each, and our trip on the bus was about $11 return - bargain!
As we are here on a mission, we decided tonight we would get back on the trail of the definitive deli. So we wandered downtown a bit, and went to 2nd Avenue Deli, on 33rd Street. This place was really traditonal with little booths, and the decor was particularly Jewish. The food was pretty good too, and Matt had a corned beef, pastrami and wide salami sandwich. He said the wide salami was 'different', but not in a bad way, just didn't add that much to the sandwich - hence he only gave it 7/10.
Matt might not have liked his sandwich as some of the others, but the restaurant got a thumbs up from both of us as it had a really nice atmosphere. And we enjoyed the walk through town and back up to our hotel, before falling into bed.
Shopping can be so tiring!
