Helena and Jeff left early to go to Ellis Island - Jeff wanted to trace some of his family roots at the Immigration museum, and Helena wanted to go an see the Statue of Liberty, so they made a morning of it! Matt and I had a slightly longer sleep, then caught the Uptown loop bus up to Central Park and went for brunch in our next deli - Lansky's on Columbus Avenue.
Matt had the Lansky's Special - which was corned beef and pastrami. He liked this one a lot, and the restaurant had a really nice atmosphere, so he gave it 8/10. He was tempted to try 'The Ultimate NY-er' which was a 7lb sandwich, but decided against it!
We then went off on the sightseeing bus again, up the West side of Central Park, through Harlem and back down the East side of Central Park. We got off at Central Park and walked along to Columbus Circle, where Matt wanted to do some shopping in Williams Sonoma - he loves his cooking utensils! We spent a while browsing round the shops there, then arranged to meet Helena and Jeff at a golfing store, so Helena could buy her dad some golf balls for his birthday. We had a taste for shopping now so walked up to Bloomingdales (just to say we'd been) and then to Tiffany's. Helena wanted to buy something in Tiffany's, but I ended up being the one who was parted from her money - I bought the silver heart to go with my earrings that Matt bought me, so now I have the set - Yay!
Back to the hotel, via the Shake Shack where we tried their peanut butter milkshake - it was pretty awesome! We had a couple of hours of relax time in the room and then headed out to an Italian recommended by Helena's boss. The food was nice, but very expensive! I love Italian food, but at the end of the day it's only pasta and I don't like paying loads for it when I can cook pretty much the same thing at home!
We stopped of in an Irish bar on the way back to the hotel - the boys had beer, I had an appletini and a cosmopolitan - well, I am in New York after all!
