When we got there after our 17hr trip we were knackered...

We just went to our room and slept for a while, even though it was only 12pm.
And we only left to find a supermarket for the usual pasta sauce to go with our spaghetti. Very over that 'meal'.

The next day (after a crap sleep for me as the exit sign - which led no where - blinded me all night. That and the sun doesnt really go down. They should really invest in curtains) we went to the rock church. It does have a better name than that, but its Finnish so I have no idea.

Basically a church carved into a rock.

Found a few other random things that werent as good as the pictures indicated. BUT! we did come across the Helsinki Cathedral (or something similar) which was fairly impressive. Better yet, it was free.

When we got back to the hostel, we got talking to another guy named Lewis. He was from Griffith (also NSW, out west). We decided us 3 would go to the 'Aussie Bar'. Its catch phrase, 'Served by descendants of criminals'. gosh.

At first we thought the Finnish were having a go about us, then we realised no, it was just ran by a bunch of Aussie wankers. Eg - when we got there, one of the staff goes 'Why the fuck are you in Finland?' Goodo. I dont care if people swear or whatever but this guy just thought he was so cool for doing so.

We decided that these guys werent pleasant and went looking for another bar but got distracted by lollies.

Once we got back to the hostel, Lewis, Lewis and I went on an adventure around the hostel which was HUGE and we had theories about it being either a former mental asylum or orphanage. Just had that eerie feel to it.

We found a door leading to the kitchen of the Nepalese restaurant next door. We were going to try and sneak in after they closed (or more just see if they were silly enough to leave the door open) but the lights were still on after they closed so we didnt risk it. We also found proper hotel rooms upstairs and pondered camping out in there that night but thought better of it.

Hmmm... so as you may have gathered the hostel was more interesting than Helsinki itself. Not a bad place but funnilly enough, just the usual stuff youd find in a captial city. Along with plenty of Santa Claus and reindeer paraphanelia.

Perhaps if we went to the Sumolena (cannot spell) fortress which has 5 islands to it with all these crazy things like the world's only church/lighthouse, it wouldve been better, but we couldent afford it...

Finally - the end of Scandinavia!
