Back tracking now...

We were in Brussels for 2 nights. We were happy to find that we had booked a cheap hotel as all the hostels were booked out, but we had forgotten this. So we turned up to this place not realising we had our own room, and it was the best thing after not sleeping in Athens!

Room was awesome - ensuite bathroom obviously, comfy bed with multiple pillows, and tv with bbc channel (meaning I could watch the apprentice, which I got hooked on in England).

We saw Grand Place and Mannekin Pis (it really is the smallest statue ever...). Lots of chocolate and beers shops everywhere. And it was just such a nice city, especially coming from Athens! Really easy to figure your way around too (although, I just follow Lewis everywhere, as I have absolutely no sense of direction).

On the 2nd day, we walked everywhere. We saw the Royal Palace (nothing major) and the palace of justice. Everything was really nice, but its becoming an ongoing joke that everywhere we go, there is scaffolding on all of the major tourist attractions!

We attempted to walk to Atomium, which was way away from everything else. We mustve walked for over an hour, and it was fairly hot. We ended up giving up and getting the tram there. Atomium was pretty cool. We didnt go inside as it wasnt cheap to do so. If you dont know what it is, its this huge monument of an atom magnified billions of times, made for the 1958 Brussels world's fair.

Im pretty sure thats all we did really? Other than that, we stayed in our hotel room watching tv, or sleeping. lol. I know that sounds bad, but being backpackers, we knew that opportunity didnt come often.

I will upload photos asap - alot of these public computers lock away the hardrives, so no usb drive...

Onto Bruges...

- Lisa
