What I did
Visited the Basque Block
On a perfect afternoon in October my husband and I ventured into downtown Boise, Idaho to see what "the Basque Block" was all about. I researched things to do and places to see in Boise while we were planning our trip and the Basque Block looked really interesting. My research doesn't do it justice! This small one block area of Boise is probably the closest I'll get to visiting the Basque country in the Pyrenees. I stepped into a community center to see a display of photos showing the history of the area and inadvertently though attentively eavesdropped on a telephone conversation being carried on in Euskara, the Basque language. There's also a museum, a Basque market, and a great restaurant and hotel, Leku Ona, that I can't wait to visit again.
