Saturday brought a relaxing twist to our Puerto Rican adventure. We awoke to another pleasant day of sunshine with occasional rain showers. We decided that today would be a beach and pool day. Before swimming, however, came breakfast and we drove the to the Golden Sweet Bakery near the Inn and ate toasted bagels with fresh squeezed orange juice. Seven Seas beach awaited us, but not before Bob led us on a quick tour of some of Puerto Rico’s more expensive high-rise condominium communities. Along the way, we encountered a family of chicks on the side of the road and Ronnie captured them in a great photograph which is posted with this entry.

While at Seven Seas we found a comfortable spot to sit beneath a pine tree for shade and we observed many local families enjoying the nice weather on this glorious Saturday afternoon. A walk along the beach permitted us to further appreciate the deep blue and varied hues of the sea and a coastline here unspoiled by commercial development whose most distinctive feature is a lighthouse perched atop a mountain ridge. After leaving Seven Seas, we ventured back to the Inn and spent the rest of the afternoon at the lower pool. While at the lower pool, we swam and visited with the parrots and parakeets whose homes are in cages adjacent to the pool.

For dinner, we decided upon La Ola which is a restaurant and marina in Fajardo. The dinners we ordered were delicious and very nicely presented on square plates with local color and flavor. As we left the restaurant we were struck by the beauty of the night sky with a crescent moon and what appeared to be two planets clearly visible with the naked eye. Ronnie later consulted various sources on the internet and determined that we observed Venus and Jupiter. If we had known to look more closely, we might have even seen Saturn.

This Saturday concluded with a trip to the casino at the El Conquistador Resort. Pat and Bob came away big winners at the gaming tables and slot machines. Ronnie and Sheila cut their losses at the Roulette wheel at the casino and decided to instead spend money on gifts at various shops located on the grounds of the resort. We all left feeling that it was another perfect day in Puerto Rico.

We are sorry to have Pat and Bob head back to New York tomorrow (hoping, of course, for a bump along the way). They have been great companions during this vacation.
