As the title suggests, this entry is not going to be spellbinding.  Our flight was at 12:30 pm in Detroit.  It was delayed.  Spirit airlines does not receive high marks from me- I thought all airlines were about equally despicable, but Spirit takes the cake.  They charge for checked luggage and carry on luggage.  If you're checking luggage, you pay 43 bucks and 25 extra if it's over 40 lbs.  We had to quickly cram some clothes into our "personal items" (purse and backpack) to skip the extra fee.  When I booked tickets for Vince and I, it didn't give the option to pick seating.  When we got to the airport we discovered that we had not been seated together.  I thought that was a given when you booked together- I got the tickets months ahead of time too!  I lucked out and got a exit row and Vince got seat 6B...along with 3 other people...on a sold out flight.  After that mess was resolved, he ended up being in an exit row right behind me!  Flight was delayed- they don't even give you free juice or pretzels.  NOTHING is free on Spirit airlines! Alright, that concludes my airline rant.

Once we got to Cancun, it was immediately warm and humid.  Always fun to go from cold and crappy to warm and sunny.  Customs was pretty easy, nothing notable.  Vince had arranged for a company to pick us up as the hotel is about 45 minutes away from Cancun.  Good thing we did that because the taxi companies are vultures there!  There was a guy holding a sign up for us.  Our trip to Puerto Adventuras was uneventful, but you definitely get to see the non-touristy part of Mexico.  Some police checkpoints along the way showed that their police are equipped with a little bit more than I'm used to seeing- huge machine guns.  I'm glad we didn't decide to rent a car because we would have been intimidated.  There were also the trucks filled with dudes in the back and even a truck full of bananas and terra cotta pots with a guy sleeping...we were going like 80! As we arrived to our destination, there were gates with Puerto Aventuras written on the side.  We're staying in a resort town basically.  Mexican Disneyworld.  I guess I am ok with that.

We got a groupon for the Omni hotel, which has been great so far!  The weather alone makes this place like paradise!  After we checked in, we didn't do a whole lot.  It was past sunset and we were both tired.  We went to the convenience store and bought some Mexican beer and the equivalent to a Smirnoff Ice.  Then we got a pizza; very Mexican.  We ate and drank in our hotel with the balcony door open because the weather was so incredibly nice.  About an hour after we ate, when we were going to put the leftovers away, we realized that with nice weather comes insects,  crawling all over our delicious pizza.  We sadly had to say goodbye to the pizza after over 50 tiny little bugs were found crawling on it.  After that, we called it a night.
