What an exciting Dec 26 & 27!  I've seen seals & swam with dolphins - SO cool!  We saw the seals various times on our rainy drive into Kaikoura on Dec 26 (check out the pics of our rained-in lunch on the bus!), which was sweet, especially since our whale watch was cancelled due to the weather.  We hit a winery instead - a very crappy winery - but it killed the afternoon in any case.

Next morning we were up before the sun - but the sun did come out!  We had our dolphin swim that morning, so awesome.  There was a pod of about 500 dolphins for us to swim with and they came SO close to you!  It was actually our job to entertain them so they'd stay around us.  We followed the pod, getting in & out of the freezing pacific about five times (well, they did - I stayed on board after the first & took photos.  I couldn't handle all the pressure of the wet suit, deep ocean, etc, but I still had a ball!).  I even saw TWO ALBATROS!  They were amazing - so big, it was nuts!  I couldn't believe I actually saw them in the wild!  Kaikoura is famous for their marine life, though, because of the structure of the base of the ocean (a very deep cliff not too far off shore which results in currents which results in heaps of marine life), but I didn't think it would be this close to us.

And I'm still having trouble believing that I swam in the ocean on Decemeber 27th!  How crazy is that?!
