Spoke to Mum,Dad and Glenn this morning . They have got a fair amount of our patio done and so far it looks great . Walked up to the local Tesco Supermarket and purchased a few more things to take on our bus trip to Great display on Saturday morning . Lunch was early and the three of us then walked into Whitley Bay to catch the Metro ( train. ) into Wallsend to go to visit Segedunum Roman Fort . On the way we stopped off at a charity shop ( they are everywhere here ) and was able to get a Harry Potter book to read for only £1.49 and it is in perfect condition . The train was fast and we soon arrived at Wallsend and it only took 3 minutes to walk down to the fort . We were lucky enough to go down to the Roman bath house where a School group was being shown how life was in the Roman times by a volunteer all done up in his Roman Soldier uniform . The children were all dressed up in a coloured uniform and a helmet and they were learning some Latin military terms . They were then given a ( sword ) and then were learning how to hold it along with their shield. The guy who was showing them was not pulling any punches about how they had to be really close to one another so that they would save themselves and also save their neighbour . After this we went over to the shop , gallery area to see some of the fantastic things that has been dug up in this area . There is a display on loan from the British Museum in London and it told the story of things that had been dug up in this area and over the years been purchased by a local farmer who lived in Backworth , thus it became known as the Backworth Hoard . He eventually gave it to the British Museum as part of the British History during the Roman Times . There was also a big display about how the area where this roman site is used to be a major shipbuilding area , but alas that is no more . The display was really great and we walked back to catch our train and it started to rain , just lightly . Trip home on the train was fast again and this time we went as far as Monkseaton as we would not have as far to walk . As we left the railway station it was just sprinkling , but within a few minutes it was coming down fairly heavy , so by the time we arrived home we neede a warm shower . All the jeans have been put out to dry ,so will be good again tomorrow . Hope it does not rain again tomorrow .

I have been catching up on your trip and have read all of your entries today. It sounds like you are enjoying it all and learning so much over there. Grandpa and Nana will need a holiday when they get back to Australia. We hope that you were able to view the State of Origin on the TV this week. Queensland played a fantastic game so NSW and QLD are now even. We (QLD) beat NSW by 20 points. We need to wait for the final game in July which will be the decider!!! Hope the weather stays kind to you over there. Look forward to reading more about your trip.
