Today we went into Newcastle on the 9.15 am bus and then to find the Hop on Hop off Bus . It leaves from a few places in the city , but we catch it in front of Fenwicks in Blackett St . Nana told the driver they were seniors from Australia, so we got the fare cheaper ,also because the City Sightseeing Tour as it is called is also in Australia . Also if you keep your receipt you can get a 10%discount anywhere in the World .on your next trip . There is a commentary going all the time we are on the bus and it only moves at about. 5mls hour . We were told about how we were driving down the first street in Britain to have electric lights and how the name Geordie came about . It is after King George. as the people in Newcastle fought for him and the people of Northumberland fought for the opposition . There is also another theory that it came about because of the miners geordie lamps .Went over the swing bridge and also the Tyne Bridge , which looks the same as the Sydney Harbour Bridge . We were also lucky enough to see the Winking Eye Bridge before and after it opened and closed for a ship,. It only takes 4minutes to change and costs £4.00 in power to change it . There are seven bridges on the Tyne and we have seen a few of them .We stay on the bus for about 1 1/2 hours, then we get off to see the Center of Life . After we have paid our entrance fee the attendant tells us that there is over 500 school children at the Center . We go and do some science -maths ,have some lunch and go into the Dino Science talk and exhibition . This only lasts for 20mins . Off to do some gear/ magnetic things and various other things before we make our way to Grainger Markets to get some veges and pork sirlions for dinner tomorrow and then it is home on the bus . Next time we go into the City we will go to the free museums which are not too far from the bus stop . Going to watch Dynamo tonight on the TV , hardly anybody over here knows who he is , so we will see if it one that I have not seen . That's it for today folks .
