LJ was up at 4 AM and out on the bow by 4:30 to claim his spot for our journey into Hubbard Glacier. I was lazy and didn't get up until 6 AM and I must admit, it was a struggle to wake up this morning. I turned off the alarm and sat up to get out of bed and I think I honestly fell back asleep while sitting there in bed. He came back to the room while I was getting ready and told me to definitely bundle, bundle, bundle - it was very cold up on deck!

There were a few people up on the bow when I got up there, including one of the cruise critic couples, Kim and Dennis. She had graciously watched LJ's camera gear for him to run back to the room. It was raining off and on and he said it had even sleeted some before I got up there. However, we had been told it would be worth and cold , wind and rain.

Soon we could see the glacier coming into view, with the ship still moving at about 25 mph to get into the bay, it was pretty chilly! We slowed down as we entered the bay and the glacier came more into view, it was absolutely breathtaking. We went up within 300 yards of the glacier and the sounds were tremendous.

There were several enormous calves of the glacier while we were there, it sounded like a gunshot or thunder or I even heard someone describing it as a large tree falling, it is difficult to explain but hopefully some of our video will capture it in some small way. We were up on deck until almost 10 AM and LJ took about 500 photos. It will be interesting to see how many are 'keepers' as he used the high speed bursts and could 50 photos at a time when the glaciers were calving. The waves at one point rocked the ship, pretty sizeable!

There was a small boat sent out from the ship with some of the crew in survival suits to pick up a bergy bit or small piece of an iceberg, small compared to the glacier but it was about 250 pounds and pretty interesting to see them hoist up into the boat. They will use it for an ice carving demonstration. They brought it up to the helo pad where we were on the bow and we were the first to get our photos made with it - that may be a purchase later!

We went and dropped off the camera gear and got some breakfast (okay, yes, it was my second breakfast and LJ's first, I admit it!) while he was taking the last set of photos on deck I grabbed a plate of breakfast - a girl's gotta eat! Second breakfast consisted of fruit and toast, promise!

After our excitement at Hubbard Glacier, it was time for a nap! We went back to the thermal suite in the afternoon and also visited the SeaView Cafe for the first time on the trip. For those of you familiar with Royal Caribbean ships, this is the alternative to Johnny Rockets on this class of ship, located in the same place.

We ran into Kirk and Michelle there and they ate with us. After that it was sadly time to try to pack, sooooo much stuff. Unfortunately we have to carry our luggage off the ship in the morning instead of placing it out for them to take down to the pier terminal for us because we are doing an independent tour very early in the morning.

Time for our final dinner. We ordered and then went to meet Patrick and Shannon and say goodbye. We really enjoyed getting to know them at dinner, going fishing and hanging out. They are headed home tomorrow and her parents and their friends are going to be going on a cruisetour. We again left dinner before dessert as we still had more packing to do and both were fading fast.

We took some photos and said goodbye to Tammy, Brad, Kirk and Michelle and said we would see them on-line in just a few days!

A final round of the ship to cash in our casino chips, pick up our photos from Hubbard Glacier this morning and also the photo we took with the bergy bit, as well as make final purchases in the ship store and get some water for our kayaking tomorrow. Yes, $10 for two 24 ounce bottles of Evian water and the best part was we had a buy one get one free coupon that I forgot to use! Ugh!!! Back to the room, finalize packing and fall into bed by 12:30 AM, alarm is set for 5 hours and 15 minutes from now.
