I really hope Brazil doesn´t become too much of a tourist destination oneday. It has the mystery factor to it right now. To those who have read Journey to the river sea, watched the Emerauld forest, Avatar and dreamed of a fantasy place called Pandorica-it´s all true and here in Brazil.
Today we´re going on a jungle trek to Lopes Mendes, a beach that is supposedly one of the best in Brazil/the world. We´ve teamed up with the Isreali couple in our room who also want to do the walk. Now for breakfast and getting ready!
So yesterday the island monsoon continued, yet we still went on the schooner trip and hired some snorkels with those Romanian girls we´d met in the centre the day before. The boat took us to the other side of the island where for a while we escaped the rain and saw the sun, beside taking time to snorkel in the clear waters of the blue and green lagoons. I saw transparant elongated fish with fleuroscent blue stripes, stripey tiger like fish and a shoal of large fish swam past me that looked straight out of a tropical aquarium. Afterward in the wind I got really cold so slept on the inside bed until the boat stopped again at a place for lunch. Anna and the girls who we´d met shared a sea food dish of shrimps, beans and rice whilst I cheaply opted for a snack ´pastel´, a crispy fried thin pasty with a bit of cheese inside. The island feels (and once was) really Pirate-y. Every movement is an adventure, even just returning to the hostel and coming across stray puppies, hopping over streams, wading through river and climbing over obstacles.
