So that was it - the Big Adventure was over. I had actually come back home a couple of weeks earlier than planned because to be honest I was tired of the travelling and I knew it was time to go home and start the next phase of my life. It was time for a bit of 'Lets Face the Music and Dance'.

And timely it was because if I hadn't have done gone when I did, then I wouldn't have got my job at King Edward VI's School in Birmingham. I got the job on the 29th May and I was only meant to fly back in on the 1st June - so maybe fate stepped in a bit there.

But what a year it has been - I'm actually writing this the night before I start work, 403 days after I was last at work !!

I'm actually amazed how I feel, I thought I would be sad because the year (well slightly longer) is over, but actually I'm looking forward to a new school and the starting of the period of my life

Did I find the answers - of course not, but I did believe I did find a bit of myself out there. Not quite sure where it was but I think I have now realised that maybe I am a little bit capable than I thought.

And all of this I found by make changes and getting out of my comfort zone. And now I have to make sure that I keep on doing that. By continuing to branch out and try new things and not just to slip back into my old ways but just in a new location.

So off I go - onto a new adventure .... (don't worry no more blogging - well for now !!), who knows where it will lead, but isn't that just the point and the fun (and yes Mum I will try to drink less this time).

Well Done Liz....

What a blog.... What an acheivement... you should be so proud of yourself.

You acheived so much and have been a brilliant travel companion to many along the way (myself included).

You have a fantastic attitude towards life and all it's twist and turns and I wish you all the very best as you start at your new school... I have a feeling with you that the adventure is far from over!

Hi Liz,
Couldn't sleep, so I trawled through travel blogs and came across yours. I so enjoyed your Everest Base Camp adventure. This year marks my 10th anniversary of the trip I made. You walked in my footsteps! I had such a brilliant time and so I was happy to re-live my adventure through your blog. The number of times I found myself saying " I walked there", I took a picture from that very spot" was incredible. I am so pleased that you had a lot of blue sky and sunshine. Your photographs are stunning. It's such a great place to take photographs. I've had a happy hour on your blog. Congratulations on completing such a challenging adventure. You have so much to share with your pupils; you will even inspire a few to get out there and try this sort of thing for themselves. Life is an adventure and it certainly is an education. I was grateful that my Head Teacher allowed me to have three weeks off school for my trip (in November/ December), you took a year! It may not be long before you get itchy feet and have to go on another trip...it's in your blood! Thanks for sharing your blog with us all. Really enjoyed it.
