We arrived at Uyuni at 6 in the morning and quickly found ourselves a (very comfy) bed to get some decent sleep after a cold night on the bus. Our plan for Uyuni as with everyone else was to do a tour of the salar (salt flats).  We had planned on doing a 4 day tour from Uyuni to Tupiza.  Most people do a 3 day circular tour back to Uyuni and as it's low season there was no one else around wanting to do the one way which meant an expensive private tour so we ended up getting ourselves on a 3-day trip to save some money.

Once that was sorted we had nothing else to do with the day but wander around and see the 'sights’ of Uyuni.  Other than some interesting looking art down the main street there is nothing really to see, and in addition to that it’s the most unfriendly place that we’ve been to in a while.  Unlike everyone else we’ve encountered in Bolivia Uyuni has some very rude people working in the internet places and the restaurants.  That could very well be because they come into contact with lots of rude tourists but to be honest it seemed more like they see tourists as an unwelcome distraction from the tv.

The two interesting things that we did find were a museum, only interesting because hidden at the back they had some mummies, a couple in quite good condition, and a pizza place.  Might not sound very interesting to most people, but it was definitely the best pizza we’ve had since we left home – it was a good pizza for home rather than just a good pizza for South East Asia or South America.  We’re definitely going back there after the tour!
