Our trip on the Great Ocean Road really was a game of two halves. The first half coming from Adelaide is the section with some of the more well-known sights like the 12 apostles, London bridge and Loch Ard Gorge. Things you just have to see. And see we did despite the pounding rain, howling wind and freezing temperatures!

Having made it through all the sites, completely saturated, we decided to treat ourselves to some food in a random town called…..which consisted of just 3 shops/cafes.  We were just about to leave and realised we needed milk for tea so I ran back into the shop. "Kevin!" “Darren!” Random.com. Darren McKenna, a friend from college was standing in the shop! He was on a trip down from Sydney with his girlfriend and a couple of friends. After plenty of laughing at the randomness we arranged to meet up in Sydney when we got there and drove to our overnight spot.

The second half of the Ocean Road is all about the drive.  There are no specific rock formations to stop to look at but the road runs right next to the coast and there are some stunning views.  The weather took a turn for the better and we were able to see all of this part of the route in glorious sunshine.  As in the Northern Territory we decided to stop at everything we could so we did a couple of walks up to waterfalls which were probably more beautiful because of the water that had fallen the day before.

Because of Liz's indecision and subsequent booking of tickets to Brisbane we went straight from the Ocean Road to Avalon airport and headed off to my old apartment!
