Kuala Lumpur is an interesting mix of east and west.  Chinatown and Little India are full of small streets, markets and roadside food that tastes delicious and only costs 1 for an acceptable sized meal.  Bukit Bintang and KLCC are big streets shopping mall after shopping mall, and skyscrapers.

As we are heading off to the US and only have trampy traveller clothes with us we had to go shopping for more acceptable New York attire which took up some of our time in KL.  Kevin was delighted to be dragged through every shop in 3 malls over a period of 5 hours the day we arrived! Having succeeded in kitting us out with some 'normal' clothes we then embarked some limited sightseeing.

KL was of course our Christmas stop as well.  Our original plan had been to be on an Island chilling out and eating seafood for Christmas so we weren't really to sure what to do.  In the end we went off budget and booked a traditional roast turkey dinner in a olde worlde styled 'pub'.  Wasn't quite the same as being at home - Kevin was especially annoyed that he didn't get to have 2nds and 3rds - but it was great to feel a bit Christmassy!   This was followed by back to back Skype calls to all our families with us wearing Santa hats to get everyone else in the festive mood.  Possibly the funniest bit was when Kevin's parents turned the screen round to the kitchen and we sat there in our hats, eating mince pies, whilst they all ignored us and got on with Christmas themselves!
