The longest drive of our holiday went well; it didn't seem as long as it was as we swapped the driving regularly and had a few short breaks. One of which was to detour to see the Cassowaries - wild members of the Emu family and we were lucky enough to see 4 adults and a youngster in total!
Port Douglas is lovely - quite "up market" - warm and tropical mmmmmmm. We went to see the Mossman gorge and we swam in the rive; we've been to Daintree National Park, the oldest rainforest in the world, where we saw some great beaches and trees and were lucky on our boat trip to see two crocodiles! the highlight of the last few days was our trip to the outer barrier reef. I did 3 dives and Ivan did 3 snorkel tours (see the picture of us in our designer stinger suits!!) - wonderful colours, beautiful fish and coral.
Only 3 weeks left- we fly to Darwin tomorrow night, after going on a 7.5 Km "skytrain/gondola" trip to the village of Kuranda - hidden in the rainforest of the Atherton Tablelands and back by train.
