Travelling down from Matamata to Napier we passed through some dramatic scenery and huge timber forests. We stopped off at Huka Falls to take thrilling ride on a jet boat and a very "up close" view of the falls - it was fab!! We had a meaner around lake Taupo and dipped our toes in the lake, before heading off for the Art Deco "capital" of Napier - rebuilt after an earthquake in 1931. We took a tour in a very luxurious "limo" bus with settees and tinted windows, and had a number of " taste sensations" - wines (you could taste 12 but we restricted ourselves to about 9!!), real fruit ice cream and hand made chocolate mmmmmmm.
With is great climate there are lots of wineries and fruit growing around here and to work off all the eating and drinking, there is a 23 km cycle, skating, walking track all along the seafront - we won't let on how far along it we walked........
It's the Mission Winery Concert tonight - we decided to miss out on the Ukelele Orchestra and plan to arrive in time for Carol King and Barrie Gibb (yes, of Bee Gees fame). On to Wellington tomorrow for our last 2 nights in South Island....time flies when you are enjoying yourselves!! nd to work it off there is a 23 km cycle, skating, walking track all along the seafront.

We looked at the Huka Falls from above .... weren't tempted by the boat ride!
Then in Napier we had had a family meal at the Mission Winery, the night before my niece's wedding; did you see all the sheep grazing the weeds in betwen the vines??
Love A&S
