After a 45 minute ride on 50 seater plane (Dave would have loved it) we arrived at Kerikeri airport in the bay of Islands (north Island) and collected our car - only a 10 minute drive in the wonderful sunshine....26 degrees at 5 30 pm......to our fantastic B & B and an amazing welcome from our hosts, Lionel and Rob and our chef for the night Gary......we had booked a welcome meal and it turned out to be a really special welcome to N Z. I won't bore you with how fab it all was, as the pictures speak for themselves! yesterday we visited the treaty grounds, and then had the afternoon on a boat, dolphin spotting.
Today we decided to take a coach trip, as we'll be doing a lot of driving over the next few weeks, and some of the places are not accessible by hire car - 90 mile beach and the Kauri forest. We went right to the Northern tip of mainland North Island and were rewarded with amazing views................A great start to our time in N Z

Hi guys. It really does look as if you're having a trip of a lifetime. You're making us more than envious as we shiver in the cold winter weather here! The blogs are great and what with the super photos, we are getting a real 'feel' for the place.
