Arrived totally exhausted. Travelled for 24 hours non stop and after that had to carry our backpacks for a 15 minute walk to our accommodation in light rain.
Once there I got my second wind, but Gary collapsed into bed. He has been bitten by a spider I think. Has blisters on his arm and very stiff joints. I gave him anti inflammatories for 2 days which helped the stiffness and started him on antibiotics which initially cleared up the lesions but now coming out on his back, weird. Of course he thinks he is dying of Ebola or something similar!
We are staying with a nice young guy named Firas in a unit which is right in the heart of downtown Barcelona. There are 2 American girls here also. The unit is very basic a real boys pad. Not even a bath mat. We are on a mattress on the floor, luckily we got used to it at home and find it comfortable.
It is a good price and great for young back packers but I think for mature aged travellers a bit too basic.
I did give him a few domestic tips ha ha.
5/03/2013: Spent the day getting our sea legs after a massive sleep. The weather is cold and wet, but already we love Barcelona. We met Max, our other room mate, he is from Russia and the American girls we met tonight in between them coming back to change into clubbing gear. They have gone day and night for 5 days, oh to be young again!!!!! The food here is great, fresh and well priced. We have a supermarket one block down so stocked up. Gary is very taken with all the pastries, his eyes light up every time we pass a bakery, oh dear lord! I might be travelling with a telly tubby.
