Well we finally made it to route 66, staying in a motel in Flagstaff on route 66, $52 for 2 nights. We drove down from Utah and came within 45 mins of the north rim of the Grand Canyon. We have been so spoilt with national parks we actually contemplated driving the extra distance to see it - can u believe!!!!. Typical America, it was worth the effort, sheer grandeur. Today we visited Sedona, a beautiful mid western town about one hour south of Flagstaff, very touristy though, like Noosa but instead of beaches, red Mesa and Butts. We could not wait to get out of the place, holiday season and people everywhere. We walked into Flagstaff this afternoon, the historic section and found a great little bar with happy hour. Met some Spanish whose ancestors moved here a century ago, coming up from Mexico. Talk about being in the spotlight, they think Gary is Crock Dundee. And surprise, surprise he doesn't let them down !!. I just sit back and laugh!! From there we went to a bar and grill on route 66 and had a late thanksgiving dinner- turkey, mash potato, greens and stuffing plus pumpkin pie. The turkey was very gamey, not like mine, but we got into the theme. Off to New Mexico tomorrow.
