Another full day sightseeing, started off with the famous or should I say infamous town of Deadwood which is depicted in the TV show. It was originally a mining camp, built on a rowdy history of gold, gambling and gun powder. Wild Bill Hickok was gunned down in Deadwood after being there only 2 months. Calamity Jane was also a notable figure. The whole town has been built in a virtual gorge, with rock face on both sides which gives it even more wild west character. There are ++ casinos, which have funded the restoration of the town but is a bit of a turn off. Very friendly people who love to give you the history of the town. From there we went to Devil's Tower, Wyoming's first national monument. At first I thought " long drive to see a rock" but this is America, it was very impressive!!
It is a very popular rock climbing place and people come from all over the world.
Off to Colorado tomorrow. The weather has been unreal, warm crystal blue days but the snow is coming on the weekend. Back in the thermals.
