Where I stayed
The cinema was brand new so the screens was huge and the chairs were really comfortable. With delicious caramel popcorn, we watched Twilight and really enjoyed it. The local people in there found it really hilarious at all kinds of odd moments, which was rather amusing! After the film, we looked around the mall one last time and then made our way back to the hotel, via an Internet cafe. Luckily, they had let us store our bags at the hotel for the day so we didn't have to lug them around. We picked then up and got a taxi to Kota Kinabalu International Airport Terminal 2.
There was a big charity run going on along the roads towards to airport so it took rather a long time to get there. Even though we had had bad experiences of KFC in China, we braved it for dinner, partly because they all seem to love it over here but mostly because it was the only option we had. Thankfully, it wasn't too bad.
Check-in went smoothly and we had a while to wait in the lounge before boarding. We did find some fruitella and milka chocolate in a shop there though which made the wait much nicer. The flight took about 2 and a half hours, arriving in Jakarta at about 11.15pm.
It took absolutely ages to get our visas, having a long queue to pay for it and then another to have it stuck into our passports. We then had another ridiculous wait to go through immigration. By the time we got through to baggage claim our bags had been removed from the carousel and put to one side like lost luggage. Tired, we almost fell into the trap of a sneaky taxi driver trying to overcharge us by a long way, but soon woke up and got into a White Horse taxi which was luxurious, with satellite TVs in the comfy leather seats and a lovely little taxi driver who pointed out landmarks around Jakarta on the way to our hotel. We payed 200,000 rupiah, about 14 pounds, still expensive but it was practically a limo!
