So for any new/first-time out of country travelers out there...do not, I repeat, DO NOT wait until the last minute to get your passport.
Not that I forgot or anything, I just LOST MINE. ... for the second time. No big deal, just another $160 down the tube (extra cost for the expediting fee). (In my defense, the first passport was stolen..in Vegas..on my 21st birthday. It was awful and traumatizing...the 2nd one on the other hand....)
Needless to say I'm panicking..slightly. We need to have our passport information by December 1st to send them for our Visas. I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping luck is on my side (for once).
Also, let's talk about PASSPORT PHOTOS for a second. Why is it that every photo for an official document turns out botched? Seriously. I always end up looking like I don't know what's going on. And the people that take the pictures don't bother telling you that, they just PRINT IT and USE IT. And you're STUCK WITH IT FOR TEN YEARS.
Le sigh.
