Where I stayed
Today we were treated to a private tour of St. Thomas by our friend and host, Ronnie Lockhart. We started out with a drive to John Brewer's Bay and then onto the secluded beaches around the north side of the island. At one of the beaches we discovered the ruins of an old sugar plantation (we think) hidden in the jungle.
The drives in St Thomas are very steep and one "must see" is Mountain Top where you get a wonderful view of Magens Bay, Tortola, St. John and some of the other USVI and BVI. You also get to try the "World Famous Banana Daquari" but you really go there for the views - they are gorgeous.
After our island tour, we headed into town so I could enjoy my daily dose of Johnny cake and salmon pate'...a local meat pie which is really yummy.
Following lunch we headed out to Coki Beach, a great place for snorkeling, and went to the aquarium there. It was small but fun and we found that iguanas live mostly in trees which is an interesting surprise when you look up unknowing.
That night we had dinner out at Grande Cru with Ronnie - highly recommended! - and then headed back to the house for drinks on the veranda.
