First off an apology for my not having written anything since Sydney. I cant believe how time has flown by. We have run up the coast to make sure everyone makes their flights so really havent had as much spare time. But i will now try and do everything in one go!
Byron Bay was good fun. We spent about 4 days there. Very chilled, the weather stayed bright after the rain of Sydney. Had a night out at Cheeky Monkeys as you have to backpacking up the East Coast, much merriment and dancing on tables was had (pics below). Had a great walk up to the Lighthouse and the most Eastern Point of the Oz mainland, had lots of fun trying to take pictures of waves breaking on the rocks.
From Byron we headed to Surfers Paradise for 2 nights. I had heard a lot of bad reports from people saying the highrises along the beach ruined the place but i thought it was a really pretty city. From Surfers we went to Brisbane for one night, didnt see it in the daylight, but i am heading back next week for 2 weeks so will do it properly then.
From Brisbane we went to Noosa, which was beautiful, but the hostel was full of cockroaches which wasnt too pleasant. im not used to luxury out here but it really was disgusting. Went on a great walk throught the national reserve and saw dolphins from the beach which was an experience. theres a couple of pics in the random bits album.
From Noosa we went to Hervey Bay which was pretty boring and then onto Fraser Island the next morning. Fraser Island is the biggest sand island in the world, and for the near future groups of idiot backpackers are for some reason allowed to higher a huge 4x4 van and drive around the place. The beach is an 80kph road and you can camp pretty much wherever you want. 3 days on Fraser is most definetly the most fun i have had so far on the trip. The van was probably the least aerodynamic vehicle ever made and we had some very very hairy moments looking down shear cliffs.
SORRY RUN OUT OF TIME ILL FINISH SOON. PHOTOS BELOW ARE UP TO DATE (if you are following the exciting adventure of the lengths of my hair)
My next few days are on a boat on the Whitsundays and then flying back to Brisbane where ill finish this off.
