Tips for travellers:
1) Stay at The Beach Roadhouse, see below;
2) Get to Chikloot lake for stunning views and the opportunity to watch bears catch Salmon.

Ever cracked an egg and gotten two yolks? This is how i feel about Haines!
This place is stunning, a small town surrounded by snow capped mountains. The second yolk came in the form of our accommodation. The Beach roadhouse is fantastic. Phil, our host, picked us up at the ferry. When we arrived he showed us to our room, a decent sized apartment with its own bathroom and a kitchenette, cable T.V and wi-fi. Phil also gave us full use of his vehicle.... AMAZING!. The beach roadhouse is located 1 mile out of town in a quiet location between the water and the forest... brilliant.
Just down the road are a few hikes, we did the battery point hike, about a mile and finishes at a beach. I recommend you continue further than the track over the rocks for beautiful scenery. The forest is like a movie set...beautiful.
