Tips for travelers:
1) Sit on the right hand side of the bus on the way into the park and on the left side on the way out for optimal viewing;
2) Stay at the second last campground called Savage River campground, it allows you to catch the 6am bus from the visitor centre at 6:30 and allows you to drive some of the park yourself;
3) If you are camping in the campgrounds you can dump your RV for free (otherwise $5)

Denali National Park is a preserved wildlife national park; you can only drive to a certain point in the national park (about 19 miles), the rest of the way you need to take buses ($40.75 both ways). You can get off wherever you like at your own risk. We decided we'd get the first bus at 6am and were well rewarded for it! First animal off the rank was a lynx! It was sitting in the middle of the road, almost like it was waiting for us! We were told it is rare to see a lynx, we thought ourselves lucky. After 3 hours on the bus we arrived at Eielson visitors centre, it went pretty quick as the trips are commentated by the driver.

We decided to go for a 1.5 hour hike down into the valley below. Keep in mind it is all at your own risk of running into bears and other animals which live in the park.

Unfortunately for us Mt Denali (Mt McKinley) was clouded over, we didn't get to see her :-(. We see did a ground squirrel at the visitor centre that was not shy at all.

After the hike we got back on the bus for a lot of animal action - almost straight away we came across a brown grizzly and two cubs and further down the road another 3 bears. Further along we saw caribou, a golden eagle, and ten dall sheep on a mountain top and to finish off a moose close up. We didn't get to see any wolves though :-(
