Had a work function on the Wednesday and Thursday but had the Friday and Saturday to myslef.

Thursday night was great, as part of the work function we were taken into a rainforest where the event was set up, we ate and danced in the middle of the raisnforest, was awesome!

On the Friday i went diving, wasnt as good at my trip back in march but wicked none the less.
Went Diving with Calypso 0740996999 - http://www.calypsodive.com. Thy are a pretty good outfit. Good service and good food, unlike my previous trip we were accompanied by staff on our dives. $245 gets you 3 dives with all the gear, pick up and drop off at your accomodation and lunch.
The highlight was seeing a humpback whale on the way out to the reef AND on the way back!!! Wicked. Check out the video.

We went diving on South Opal Reef at 3 locations - Blue Buoy, Bash and Wedge reefs. Was O.K,saw a heap of fish, a couple of turtles and loads of coral. Unfortunately we had bad weathe ron the way out and on the way in, the seas were rough and choppy.

For work I stayed at the Rydges Sabaya Hotel, very good, nothing to rave about though.
I then moved to Blue Leaf Rooms at Treetops which i booked on the internet. This place was great. It is a hotel based inside a resort, so you have access to all the resorts facilties like pools, spa's, restaurants, bars and transportation.
Great friendly service. i was met by the owner KC who checked me in and showed me to my room. KC gave me a 4:30pm check out, that is completely unheard of! She was very friendly givign me some tips on good restaurants nearby (Barrier Reef Tavern) and other local shops and well as transportation into Port Douglas.
Only two minor drawbacks are - (1) proximity to Port Douglas, you need to take the shuttle which is a 5-10 minute ride and costs $3.50 and (2) a little noisy  , i think this was the room i had. You could hear the goings on in the hallway, to be fair it was past 9am before any noise started.
The rooms have massive king sized beds, air con, cable T.V and they have family rooms too. All this for $85.
Around the corner you have the beach and all sorts of water sportss - kite surfing, windsurfing etc.
Providing KC doesnt have your room reserved for someone else she is very flexible on your check-out time.
Forget about booking online, contact KC and her husband Phill on 07 4099 1683. Check out their website at www.blueleafrooms.com.au. Click contacts us on the website to communicate directly with KC and Phill.

If you want to do a foot tour in Port Douglas make sure you head up to the lookout and the location of the old lighthouse for great views. See my 2 pictures.

For other good food go to Salsa in Port Douglas. No shortage of bars, restaurants and shops. See the pic.

For transportation from/to Cairns use Coral Reef Coaches (07) 4098 2800 for $32.00 or Sun Palm is another company.
