Just spent 3 days on an Island on the west coast of Brasil. Nothing too special to be honest but i was glad to be back on a surfboard again. Met up with a couple of lads from the U.K and South Africa, needless to say we got completely wrecked on the Saturday night on beer and a Brasilian Cachaca concoction i mixed up with Guarana and limes! (i swear you can runs cars on the stuff!!!). Few good laughs were had and a sore head on Sunday morning!!!
The beaches were great, unfortunately a shore break makes surfing waves very short or you end up eating sand!
The south of Brasil is very different from the centre and north, i sometimes feel i could be anywhere in the developed world here as the poverty, pollution and ruins are practically non existent. People in the south have far more money than the rest of the country, the south heavily influenced by Italians, Germans and Ukraneans who populated the south after the second world war. In fact many Germans at the time were escaped criminals of war! I guess the Europeans brought their cash with them...
Tonight i am off to Puerto Alegre about 6 hours south as i start making my way to Uruguay for Easter this weekend.
Happy Easter to all.
