We got the ferry from Phi Phi to Lanta, arrived safely at our room and settled in.
Ko Lanta has been unspoiled and it is our favourite island so far, well, on a parr with Ko Pangan, or however you spell it!!!!
Since we arrived we have walked from Klong Nin, the beach we are staying at, for a couple of hours to the where else resort at Klong Kong Beach, and then got a taxi from there to the north main tourist place to Klong Doa, spellings could be off again!!! But we decided we loved it where we were and that was where we were to settle, so we are staying in a gorgeous resort called clean beach, 500 bhat a night, bargain, we have tv, hot water, fridge, gorgeous room and comfiest bed, lovely gardens and settings, lovely pool, which they lay towells on the leather sunbeds in the mornings with flowers on, it had a really nice restaurant backing onto the beach, and the beach is lovely.
So we have also walked ten miles!!!! i am sooo proud that i did it!!! we had our pedometers on so we knew the distance!! across the island to the viewpoint which was stunning and then down to old leanta town, which was cool, and at the very end of the road we found a tiny bay, noone else there, and it was covered in the most amazing shells ever, i was in shell heaven, it was a shell graveyard, and so maybe i shouldnt take shells off the beach but you know how it is so ......................... i did!!!! sorry to everyone i have offended, but they were so ace, so big and so different, we found some amazing ones, so that was a really cool find after such a long walk. So we decided to get a drink and as we did the heavens opened and the rain came, so we got a taxi back to the resort.
We have met some ace people here, we love drinking in Ottos, but i keep getting sooooo drunk!!!!!!!!!!! and we like the fact there is a pool table and the locals love challenging you to a game, and we have had games of doubles with them and us girls have played each other, and i've played the men, and won!!!!! just had to get that in!!!!
We also eat in a restaurant owned by 4 brothers, who are lovely, Han, Paed, Gai and bura, and they are well into english football, all supporting different teams, so baz has been out drinking with them, and we have all watched the footie together in the restaurant all jeering and playing each other up, but they are lovely and they drive us back at the end of the night so we dont have to walk in the dark.
So, Koh Lanta is lovely, we have made some friends, we are happy with where we are staying and we like the walks we can do and the tradition of the island, so we will be here for a few more days and then we are making our way down to Koh Mook where hopefully we will get some more snorkelling in.
But Koh Lanta and the people definatly score points with us!!!!
