I am writing this a while after the date i have entered, so i will do my best to make sense!!!!!
We went to the Thai boxing match, there were 8 fights, and it was a really good night, they even had 7yr old boys fighting which i was a bit dubious about but the locals ended up explaining they get paid and it will lead to a job either fighting when they get older, or training, so i relaxed a bit, but said to Baz, i still reckon they should be tucked up at home in bed.
But it was a really good atmosphere, we kept shouting for the underdogs, and a couple of times they won, it went on until 2am, but it was funny watching the thai men who had placed bets going wild at the fights, a really good night.
The next day we went snorkelling on the beach at Ko Phi Phi Don, we snorkelled on the harbour side and we saw some coral and some lovely coloured fish.
We also walked up to the viewpoint again, and again it nearly killed me, but it is an amazing view at the top, but this time instead of walking down the way we came up and the way most people go, we met a lad who lives in Koh Phi Phi and he showed us another route which takes you back down through the jungle, so we asked the guy, who got to know us well in the end, who works at the top viewpoint, and he said yes you can go that way but be very careful, well, me and Baz are finding Thailand lovely, but very easy, and we wanted some wow factor, so we agreed, lets do it!!! so off we start walking and yes we do endup being in a jungly overgrown area, it was just like a forest to me, not what i miagine a jungle to be, i think really it was like the smallest jungle ever, but never the less, we still heard rustling cming from the bushes, and noises we didnt recognise, so it was cool, and we kept winding each other up, to add to the excitement!! but then, we sort of got lost, well we did get lost!!! and Baz being the good navigator that he is, decided to trace our steps back the way we came, and then we found nother pathway, so we went down this slope, and ended up back on the route we knew, so we didnt go the right way, but we had a laugh trying.
The next day we got up at 5am and we met a local guy called red, well thats what i called him cause i couldnt say his name, and we went on his longtail boat, we went out in search for black tip reef sharks, so he stopped his engine out at sea, dropped his anchor, and we waited, all really quiet, (and tired and still waking up!!) and we waited...........and waited..........and then..........we gave up!!!!! no sharks, we were both gutted, but hey ho, so then he took us over to Bamboo island, where noone lives, and it was stunning, so gorgeous, so we put our snorkells on and went snorkelling, it was off this planet, it was amazing, we were surrounded by groups of fish, and in the most wonderful colours and pattern, we saw a leapord shark, which isnt a shark?????? i know i quizzed baz, i still dont get it, but we saw a picture in a book to prove what we saw, it sucks along the bottom of the sea, we saw lovely coral, we had fish come up to our goggles, stop look at us and then swim off, i had one fish do like a warning dance at me, i think he was saying backoff, this is my home, so i did swim away, i then thought i hit something with my foot, as i turned my head to see, i had fish nibbling on my toes, it was just amazing, but what i couldnt get over was the colours and patterns on the fish and how close they were, i am soo hooked on snorkelling!!!! We then made our way to Monkey Beach, which is a tiny patch of beach totally inhabited with monkeys, but we didnt take any food, we didnt know to, so when we arrive these monkeys jump on our boat, and start getting angry at us for having no food, and boy the can cut some dirty looks at you!!! so i was scared stiff and i dont mind admitting it!!! so baz was gonna get something to throw at them to scare them off, and as it turned out, red was scared stiff of them too!!!! Oh great, thanks mate, so he did come to the rescue while he was also acting like a big girls blouse, and the monkeys did back off, so we stayed on the boat, cause not really wise to walk on the small beach when its bombarded with monkeys wanting food and you have none, so we took a couple of photos and made our way back to the beach. It was a fantastic trip, we really enjoyed it all, and then we climed to the viewpoint again, and yes, gotta say, it started to get easier.
Our room in Phi Phi was in the center of all the bars and restaurants, so baz went out got a pizza and kebab!! we are so british, but its cheap, and we watched films in our room and had a quiet night in.
There is something for everyone at Kho Phi Phi Don, but you just need to keep an open mind in the middle of the day when the island gets hundreds od day trippers arriving on the island, it does get jammed everywhere, but if you plan your day well, you can be out snorkelling or walking or rockclimbing at the busy times.
We have loved our stay in Ko Phi Phi, but the next stop is Ko Lanta.
