We went to the floating village for bazs birthday, and the tickets were 2000 bhat, we both said no way are we paying that, and we knew the taxi driver was on commision, and its a whole chain to the boat driver to the boats where you buy stuff, so we clicked on real quick, and got tickets for 800 bhat!!!!! we said if they didnt accept we wouldnt be going back with the taxi driver so he'd loose out and i looked at the driver and said i know your on commision and your gonna loose out so your better off telling the ticket guy to accept 800 or you'll both get nothing and we'll find another way back to the hotel!!!! and it worked, everything here is commission and when you work it out you save so much money cause they know you know the score!!!!
The floating market was ace, the best bit was when the boat went full speed, we screamed cause we loved it. But a really cool start to the day.
On the night we went to a real nice quaint little restaurant, ordering 1 starter and 2 steaks, and got 2 starters and 1 steak but turned out nice and fine, then went to a pub which is a petrol station, it is so funky!!! your sat on the forecourt of a petrol station, its closed down now so no cars, but so funky!!!!! But we had this drink called sato, i've nicknamed it satons drink, cause its vile, i was heaving like crazy after one sip, you get a bottle that looks like a square half litre of whiskey for 80 bhat, we ended up leaving it on the table!!!!! and another bar is outside, and its a volkswagon campervan, converted to a bar, really cool again, so we had tequila shots there. We went to Gullivers travellers bar, we had a giggle still but only stayed for one drink, then we went to another bar that was closing up, so they gave us our drinks as we sat outside, locked up, turned the lights off and went home, so we sat outside in the dark getting even more drunk, and then went back to the hotel for more tequilas, it was such a giggle, first night since we have been away that we got blottowed, so we didnt get up today until 3pm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So all in all Baz had a good Birthday!!
Been doing some shopping also!!
Me and baz have this double act thing going where we barter, but already whispered a price to each other, he wonders off around the shop but while he is he gets the exact money to the price we agreed between ourselves out of his wallett and then comes back and after a minute of listening to me still bartering he does this act where he gives me money and says thats it no more and walks out handing me money, so then i play the hard done by girlfriend where i show thats all the money he'll give me show i have empty pockets and say if i cant have the item for that then i'll have to leave it, and they always accept what i have, it works a treat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and we've already bartered with other shop owners so we know what a good price is. we are getting things for much less than half price.
We have gone back upto China Town today, (29th), had a gorgeous meal for lunch, we both agreed the best since we've been away, and we got the boat back to Koh sahn Road, so much cheaper than Tuk Tuk drivers, so gonna use the boat from now on, and again the tuk tuk drivers are on commission, and they openly admit they have to take you to a shop even if you dont want to as they get commission, so we just say upfront, we'll pay ya an extra 20 bhat to take us straight to where we wanna go and no shops!!!!! some refuse, a couple agree!!!
Found a british place selling food, and i have missed gravy sooooo bad, and vinegar on my chips!!! So Baz had fish, chips, mushy peas for his tea, and i had sausage, chips, gravy and loads of vinegar!!! It was ace!!!!
But still loving Bangkok, and having an ace time!!!!
