So i figured I would give a short entry giving my first impressions of London life so far.
The first thing I have to admit is that this country has completely blown me away. All the expectations I had of this place have been completely wrong. I guess I was expecting it be exactly like Coronation St and I thought they never really had any sun over here.
Well to my luck I havent seen rain or had an overcast day to date. Its fantastic and the buildings although similar dont look like they have all been cut from the same cookie cutter mold.
There is just so much history in this country and its almost unbelieveable to me that these buildings are hundreds and hundreds of years old compared to little old New Zealand.
London is definately a young persons city. The city itself spans over 600 square miles and as fabulous as it is I dont understand how people bring up families here....you see young kids on their own catching the Tube to school...it definately makes me appreciate growing up in NZ.
There are so many aspects of the city that I love like the buildings and the cultural side of it as there is always something going on but there are also things i have yet to grasp my head around yet.
Things like how you have to stand on the right side of the escalater unless you want to be abused by many many other people. I find this soo odd considering they drive on the left hand side of the road.
I also dont understand how one nation can be so football mad. I mean I know us kiwis are Rugby mad but it is absolutely nothing compared the the English and their football....its crazy!
I have jumped onto the mushy pea bandwagon...i absolutely love them. I have to say the fish and chips here arent as good as at home ( £3 or 9 bucks for a peice of fish) but the mushy peas are awesome. Sonia wasnt so kean on them but I think its cos I like my veges cooked til thoroughly soggy.
and post boxes. Things just so uniquely UK. Im sure the novelty will wear off soon but for now I find them fascinating.
The place Im staying at is in an area called Tufnell Park which is really
So far Im loving it here. Everything is all so new and foreign and I cant wait to explore it a bit better.
Ta Ta for now!
