Really long time since my my last entry! sorry!
Went travelling down the coast all the way to Toubakouta to visit the Sine Saloum Delta with some other volunteers. Started off on Monday the 1st, travelled to Dakar to stay for one night in an apartment, cooked for ourselves which made a nice change! Then got a good nights sleep ready for the big day of travelling on Tuesday. The first part of the trip down to Kaolack took about 4 hours in a sept place (station wagon) and then we stupidly got on a minibus for the rest of the journey,,,big mistake! had to wait about an hour and a half for it to fimm up with passengers and then when we finally left it drove at about 15mph along a very dusty and potholed road! Some very interesting charachters on that bus! Arrived in Toubakouta when it was dark...imagine no street lights and lots of senegalese men offereing to take you to your campement on the back of a scooter! Its not a nice experience to have in the dark! We managed to find our way to Keur Youssou to meet some other friends without the aid of the scooter men and got settled in to our lovely campement which was costing us about 7 pounds per night. not bad!
The next day we took a boattrip and a donkey ride to our next campement right on the edge of the river. absolutely stunning location! Did some swimming, canoeing and relaxing and not much else! No other guests there so the guides were being overly helpful but overall it was a nice couple of days.
After one night in the wilderness we headed back to the village and stayed for one more night before heading back up the coast to Toubab Dialao. To be continued...
