Touchdown in San Jose and my high hopes as the plane zoomed down over volcanoes covered in rainforests were crushed as soon as I stepped out of the airport. After fighting through the taxi driver vultures shouting in English, I made it to the bus stop only to be hit by an overwhelming smell of drains. Nice. Downtown SJ wasnīt much better, the buildings are modern and ugly and itīs a chaotic cloud of traffic and people shouting. Despite dire warnings to the contrary though I managed not to get relieved of my belongings after wandering the streets with my backpack all day (thank god i only packed 11 kilos. impressive eh). The mountains and palm trees in the background and generic caribbean music blaring out of the shoe shops (instead of Mexican banda) made it seem more authentically central-americany though. Am out of here tomorrow, Nicaragua bound!
