We arrived in Mazatlan at midnight after our day on the farm, was such a relief when the stern faced hostel lady agreed to let us check in 6 hours late as on first impressions everything was completely dead. High tourist season here is November til January, which worked out very well for us as everything was about half the price and we only had to contend with the odd rainstorm. I always prefer travelling in rainyseason anyway as the downpours seldom last more than an hour and make everything all fresh and squeaky clean. The nightlife amounted to a banda club on Friday (didnīt partake, my banda skills are sufficiently unhoned as to make it into more of a circus type event) and Bora Bora club on saturday...it filled up with people and had a gorgeous view over the bay but I canīt stand R&B and it played nothing but so we left at midnight only to discover a cheedy spanish pop factory next door in which we promptly entered and imbibed several coronas. Phew, shall not leave Mazatalan thinking of it as den of horrible American music after all!

The waves on the beach were incredible to my calm mediterranean-accustomed eyes, we both got dragged under and buffeted around quite a bit. Eventually, after swallowing half the Pacific, we decided weīd had enough and boldly strolled into the Hilton and partook of their pool facilities. Vastly preferable to the rough seas a few metres away, we returned the next day. And next.....! We were a bit worried about being shouted at on our way out the last time, but oddly enough, the guests in reception (which consisted of several middle aged businessmen) didnīt seem to mind the presence of 2 girls with wet t-shirts clinging to their bikinis strolling through the lobby. Canīt wait to tell Jason who got chucked out of similar posh hotel in Cancun for trying the same trick. Sorry pet, try growing a pair of boobies next time!
