We left the Buffalo HI with slight hangovers and a sadness that Jim's Steakout wasn't anywhere else apart from Buffalo. We also left armed with instructions on how to get back to the Peace Bridge to change up our Canadian Currency before heading onto Cedar Point. So on our merry way we go, follow the instructions given by the nice lady at the HI, arrive at the Duty Free by the peace bridge, change our currency, Lee goes off to the toilet and I go back to the car, it's absolutely peeing with rain at this point and a bit chilly so I grab our hoodies from the car and get in to look at the map. Once in the car I notice that we're in a one way bit and there's no route back out the car park, only a sign saying, 'If you are past this sign...', which we are, '...you must proceed to Canada.'. Oh dear. This can't be right, so off I trot back into the Duty Free shop, where the assistant behind the Clinique counter informs me that we can't go back the way we came and we have to go to Canada. doh!

Lee gets back and I tell him the news, do you have your passport handy? we've got to go back to Canada. Oh no, he tells me, some other guy had said that we can just turn around... so off we go... and no, we can't turn around. Not until we're past the Canadaian customs. Oh joy!

So off we go, over the Peace Bridge, into Canada. Queue up at the Peace Bridge and try to explain to the Official that we don't want to go Canada, we want to go back to the US, please. So she points us to a lane where we can return to the US without going into Canada -great! Off we go again, but no, the lane's not open. It's closed with police tape so round we go again, peeing with rain, tempers fraying and a bit lost and confused about what to do... well, there's no other way we can go apart from forward and into Canada. We get to the toll booth, pull up and wave over an official, who politely waves back (a bit confused), after waving a bit more urgently she comes bounding over in the rain, in all her neon lovelyness. We explain our prediciment and are basically told we've missed the return lane so now have to pay the toll, drive round and come back over.

Well, we plead our case with the toll booth man, who couldn;t care less, pay our 2 dollars and go back to Canada - again! We were both quite Peed off, it was Peeing with rain outside and we were lost in Canada. The road signs weren't much help so after a few screaming matches, a lot of revs on the engine and a few screetching of wheels we found our way back to the bridge - for the 2nd time in one day. Queued up AGAIN, got passports out AGAIN and then had to explain AGAIN that we were stupid and just wanted to come back to the US - PLEASE..

The US Official just didn't get it at all, our patience was wearing thin but in the end he let us back in (phew!) and wished us a "nice day". We drove as fast as we could and in the opposite direction to Canada.

Our reward for getting back to the US, was a huge thunderstorm on the highway to Ohio, which was actually a tropical storm and made driving quite dangerous - couldn't see much more than a few feet ahead, and in a place where tailgating is so regular it was quite a challenge for Lee, but we made it to the Days Inn in Ohio and rewarded ourselves for a quite traumatic day with some free movies and beer.
