I'm jobless as of today! No work for a year - fantastic! My last week at work has been traumatic to say the least, the lowlight being a panic attack on Tuesday. The highlight being my leaving lunch on Thursday and a brilliant night out last night seeing a band called Scarf playing at The Garage in London.
Now, the countdown has well and truly begun.
All efforts, going forward, are concentrated on moving out the flat where I've lived for 9 years... 9 years... do you know how much stuff a girl can accumulate in 9 years? well, let me tell you - a lot. I've got stuff in cupboards that I haven't seen since I moved in.
So today I'm enjoying, what will probably be, the last Saturday in our flat. I'm making sure I appreciate every last minute of having a nice, clean bed, a bathroom of my own, my own kitchen, my own mug - all the small things everyone takes for granted. I'm certainly not doing that now, I've got 2 weeks left to enjoy all those little things before we move out.
Moving out is a scary thought. I've lived in this area all my life, so packing up and moving on is quite sad. Ever since I handed my notice in and we sorted the flat stuff out I've been paying attention to everything that you'd normally ignore - the trees outside our flat, looking up at buildings instead of just walking past, just soaking up everything around me that will be gone very soon. Although it's sad and I will miss everything loads, I just know that there is tons of other exciting stuff out there waiting for me.
Tickets will hopefully be purchased sometime in the next couple of days, once we've sorted out US car hire, which is no mean feat. why is it SO complicated? No hidden charges? Hmmmm, yeah, right... not unless you read the teeny tiny small print - size 4 font, white text ;)
Anyway, right now I'm off for Pizza with a friend. She's getting married the weekend that we leave the country, which I'm really gutted about because she is the friend I've known the longest in the whole world. But, we're going to have a little celebration this afternoon to say goodbye and good luck. Although after the amount I drank last night, the forthcoming wedding will be toasted with Lemonade rather than anything alcoholic!

Hi Lisa,
I remembered all of the places I though you should go while I was on holiday.
They are:
Dr Wilkinson's Hot Springs in Calistoga - you can't beat a good mud bath in natural volcanic springs! One of their two night spa breaks is a great treat.

Visit Prager Port just behind the Sutter Home winery for some lovely ports and make sure to send me a bottle of their Petite Syrah which is just gorgeous!
A trip to the Korbel winery where they make a champagne style wine. The trip round the winery is one of the best I have been on and they have lots of different wines to taste.
Have fun!
