We passed through Customs easily, stopping for pictures at the "Welcome to Alaska" sign. Dianne had developed a sore throat which progressed into a bad cold, so our first few days in Alaska were spent resting, washing the RV and car, and reading about where we wanted to visit. (As the town that people must drive through when both entering and leaving Alaska, Tok provides travelers a couple of wonderful visitor centers, so we had picked up about a bushel of information brochures.) Our stay in Tok was highlighted by the entertainment (a couple who sang, played guitar and mandolin) and outdoor dinner of reindeer chili served at the Sourdough Campground. We even participated in the sourdough pancake toss to try to win a free breakfast, but in spite of our years playing softball, neither of us had a pancake land in the bucket. We concluded that we are out of practice, since we are missing the softball season at home. (Thank goodness, our team carried on well without us, tying for First Place in league play. WAY TO GO!!!)
