I met some girls at our campsite who pointed me in the direction of a bookstore which sold English books. So off we went on an 8km bike ride to the bookstore...and low and behold they even had Mr. Pip by Lloyd Jones! I bought that and another big book to try and get me through the next couple of weeks...
"Mr. Pip" only lasted the day! What an absolutely amazing story, I was engrossed from the minute I picked it up. Grant and Jordan are now both reading it (simultaneously), when Jordan is doing something Grant picks it up and vice versa. There have been a few arguments at times!
The weather over the last week has been very unpredictable, and apparently very unlike Italy for this time of year. One minute it is torrential rain and we are digging trenches in front of our groundsheet and then bam the sun is out and everyone is back on the beach in various states of undress. You know that ad on TV about the man in Speedo's ....togs, togs, togs, undies, undies UNDIES! They need it over here, Men in Speedos no matter what age or shape their bodies are in are just wrong...and I will probably repeat this many times over the next 3 months.
I must also write about some of the other interesting sights I have seen in the last couple of weeks...
- Okay so we are heading down the road in the camper, not a major highway but still a bit of traffic on it when in the distance I see a wee caravan on the side of the road. So as per usual when you see another camper or caravan pulled over you obviously have a look to see what they are doing or if they are in need of any help...WELL...I look and there is this old lady sitting beside her caravan on a camp chair wearing a raincoat...and NOTHING ELSE! With her legs wide open waiting for a customer!!! I was horrified. Spud didn't see it and I couldn't get the words out fast enough because within another 100 metres we had passed another one and still spud hadn't got the gist of what I was trying to tell him...thankfully the next old lady we passed was wearing stockings and a short black skirt (no top on) but had her back to the traffic! Grant has memorized that strip of road now and when we head back down to Tuscany I am sure we will find ourselves on it again just for Grant to see the sights!
- Then just yesterday I head to the woman's showers at around 11am after doing all my daily chores, washing, mopping, scrubbing and there is a woman around about late 30's early 40's standing at the first sink in the doorway with her pants (knickers included) down around her ankles with a facecloth giving the old girl a good cleaning!!! Like leg up on the sink then dunking the washcloth back in the sink and having another go! Now I definitely believe in the old Maori shower but maybe in one of the cubicles with either a door or curtain (which there were plenty of available for this sort of use). She then turned full frontal to me, still with leg up and said good morning!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME! She just ruined my whole day. Grant thought this was hilarious and reminded me of it after I found a hair in my lunch; I just about threw up and did not eat for the rest of the day.
I think that is enough of the story telling for now as I am getting queasy just writing it!
Bibione Mare is a lovely place and the beach here is better that any place we have been to on this side of Italy so far. The beach goes for miles and is definitely not as cluttered as the others have been.
We are really enjoying the soccer (European Cup) and make it down to the bar each night to watch both games. We are supporting Holland as our main team! Sad times for the Murphy's you rugby nuts may be thinking but we are actually getting really into it and as for that Ronaldo I think he may have even passed Lawrence Dilago as my new future husband.
