Washington DC was only a 4 hour drive from Pittsburgh so we took our time in the morning, I must admit I was a bit dry and had to take a couple of panadol for the head, did our laundry then hit the road. The day was lovely and driving into Washington DC was a beautiful sight. It is an amazingly clean city and the historic buildings are absolutely beautiful.
We toured the Air & Space museum, the National Natural History museum & the National Art Gallery. We also walked to all the monuments, capitol buildings and of course I had to see the White House now that I am on first name basis with Hilary! We definitely got our cultural and educational value for money.
Next stop South and bikini weather finally. Even though it was a bit on the chilly side we still managed to lie on the beach, make sandcastles (girls) and wear jandles. Myrtle Beach was a cool place with little beach bars everywhere and a massive complex called Boardwalk on the Beach, which by the way was nowhere near the beach. This complex had restaurants, theme park rides and shops everywhere. It even had a Margaritaville, which brought back great memories although there was no slide from the top of the bar into the ocean like our favorite margaritaville. But in search for warmer weather we only stayed a couple of nights and then hit the road south again.
