We get to Pittsburgh at night and are all just knackered from our time in New York so it was delivery pizza and an early night only to be woken up at 4am with another fire alarm! Our 4th in 2 and half months. Our first impressions of Pittsburgh were grim! We headed into town for some lunch and walked a couple of blocks the wrong way. We ended up in a very dodgy part of town and were being looked at not very nicely! So we decided to get the hell out of there and took off back to the hotel for another early night before the big concert and the St Patrick's Day parade the next morning.
Pittsburgh apparently has the biggest parade out of any city in the US for St Patrick's Day and they weren't lying. Hilary Clinton was even in it! We left after 2 hours and it probably still had another hour to go to get all the floats through but come on I had to get ready for Bon Jovi!!!!
We got ready early and headed to the Hard Rock at Station Square where they had 7 hours of live music playing, thousands of people wearing green and the most pissed people I have seen in a long time. A few beers and quick bite to eat and we were off. Our seats were amazing apart from the 50 year old skank behind spud who kept feeling him up. I wasn't alerted to this fact until about 10 minutes to go so it didn't really ruin my night, as I would have bloody slapped her and then been booted out! We were 20 metres from the stage! They had Dohtrey opening and they were absolutely fantastic. Then Bon Jovi who played for 2 hours solid! WOW!!!! We loved it; the girls rocked on and thought it was magic. Cam managed to get right up the front and the security guard up there put her on a chair so she was basically on the stage taking photos of the band. It all caught up with her at the Marriott where we went for a drink afterwards and she fell sound asleep in the booth. Waking her up to get her in the taxi was like taking a little drunk home, she just kept falling down and going to sleep.
So after 3 days in Pittsburgh our first impressions of it changed. It is a really cool city that must be beautiful in summer. The people are friendly (some more than others aye spud), the bars and restaurants are cool and they also have the best waxer in the USA!
