Where I stayed
So, we dropped the dogs off today at a Camp Bow Wow. So cute!!! The girls needed a rest since they have been in the car for several days now. They needed to run and be amongst other dogs. Then, Brian and I were able to spend some time in the city.
We visited the Oklahoma National Memorial today. Wow. It was so moving! The memorial was beautiful. The museum had many pieces of the Federal Building that had survived the bombing. Lost keys, glasses, shoes, and clothing were among the items left behind. Videos of survivors and family stories were on each floor of the museum as well.
The outside part of the memorial includes two big arches that display 9:01 and 9:03. There is a reflection pond between them to stand for the bombing that occurred at 9:02. Next to the pond are rows of bronze chairs that are dedicated to each victim that died in the blast. The chairs are set up in rows according to what floor the people worked on. The small chairs represent the children that were killed as well. They were in the daycare in the building on that day.
Later tonight, Brian and I went back to the memorial site. It is even more beautiful at night. Each chair has a glass base that lights up. You can't really tell in my pictures, but it was just breathtaking.
Tomorrow, we will pick up the dogs and head over towards Texas.
Until then...I am still touched by the memorial...
