So, yesterday I began I guess what you would call the third part of my trip.

First part was living in London, the second was my big trip through Europe and now this is the third.

Doing a HelpX stay in country Wales.

HelpX is a bit like a free exchange of work for food and boarding. It is perfect for me, because I am not in what you would call a comfortable financial position.

But I started the day in John Lewis actually. Well I didn't start there but I went there with Tim & Chris before I journeyed to Wales.

Here I met a lovely guy called Conor who is training to be a manager there. We got talking while I was in the pram section. I never knew how much a bleedin' pram cost. I think I would opt for a shopping trolley decked out given the prices!

But then it was on to Wales.

A new place!!

I had heard the family on the phone and they sounded lovely, so it was a comforting feeling when I was warmly greeted by Kerry and Steve and their youngest son Charlie. (What an awesome name!!)

It was so nice to come into a family who were willing to take me in. And I started work right away.

There is a restaurant here, and they had a quite full dinner tonight so I was helping a little bit. So different from the 5 star I have been used to, but so much fun!!

It felt good to be helping, because as everyone knows, nothing runs smoothly 100% of the time, and let's just say today was one of those days.

I think I proved myself fairly well? I hope!!

I also met her eldest son and his girlfriend who are just gorgeous, lovely people. The whole family is!!

I feel right at home.

When I got up this morning, I started my other type of work. I fed the chickens!!

So many bubba chickies!!

Then I ironed some stuff for the restaurant, set a couple tables, split a vase of flowers, cleaned up said flowers, swept the floor, cleaned the kitchen and spend an hour searching for flour and sugar before baking a cake.

I tell you what though, I don't think it's the best cake I have ever baked, but after a long drive for the rest of the family today (I am home alone), I think it will be a welcome treat.

So yeah, I am going to start answering your questions as of now with what will most likely be only twice a week of 'live' updates. Not because I am bored, but because unlike the last 5 and a half months of my life...I have routine here!!

John on

Did you split a vase of flowers or spill a vase of flowers? So good to talk to you in your new "home" for a while. Hope you enjoy it.

It's funny to think that, although you'll be working hard to keep your part of the HelpX exchange, this part of your trip will feel like a holiday!
