Wow - what a fantastic couple of days!

As mentioned, after really enjoying the relative peace in Da Lat, we decided to hire two 'Easy Rider' motorbike tour guides to take us on our 4-day / 3-night tour from Dalat to Mue Ne (via the scenic route' of the Central Highlands.

This is by far the single best thing that we could have done. Our two guides are excellent - they speak incredibly good English, have a great sense of humour, are very careful drivers (a bonus in this country!), and are extremely knowledgeable on all aspects of history and life in Vietnam.  This tour has added so much to our travel through Vietnam.

We pretty much ride for the entire day, and we are taken to the local restaurants to eat incredibly cheap meals and stop for various 'activities' or 'site visits; along the way.  (Most meals are costing us $2-3 each!).  But most importantly we are being introduced to so many aspects of the Vietnamese lifestyle that we would not have seen otherwise.  We have been to areas where there are no tourists - which means that many locals have never been exposed to tourists.  The result:  we are continually stared at like we are creatures from another planet!  But then they usuallly break out into a smile, a wave and a friendly 'hello'.  It's fantastic!

We have been taken to local tribal villages and invited to sit with the family for awhile.  We have seen a wide range of local family-run businesses and factories - such as a silk farm, rice paper making, plywood factory, brick-making factory, etc.  I think these are always my favourite things - to see how things are actually made.  And it's usually such a manual process.

I'll add some additional info against each of the photos to explain what we have seen.  You have to double-click on the first photo to see the title and the comments (rather than use the slideshow mode).

Lovin' Vietnam! again!
